Beach, Florida hosted the 82nd Annual Convention of the American
Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA). The three-day convention
started on Thursday, May 11, 2006 with a series of events that
include Shareholders Meeting, ACSA retiring Boards of Directors,
General Business Session, and Executive Business Session etc.
The convention was organized in the Four Seasons Resort which is
located on South Florida's finest beach minutes from Worth
Avenue shops, three championship golf courses, superb diving,
fishing and other water sports.
John Mitchell, the out going president of the association
welcomed the guest members of the convention.
Manfred Schiefer, the new president of ACSA has always been
involved in cotton associations. He served terms on the board of
the Texas Cotton Association and the American Cotton Shippers
Association as well as the Dallas Cotton Exchange. He has served
as a delegate for the National Cotton Council several times. In
1992 Manfred was elected
President
of the Texas Cotton Association and currently serves as the
President of the Lubbock Cotton Exchange. He serves on the Board
of Directors of the National Cotton Council, Cotton Council
International and the American Cotton Shippers Association where
he is the first Vice President of the association. “I am really
looking forward to this year, we have a lot of work ahead of us
and fortunately I have a lot of spare time to devote to our
industry,” he said. Besides he highlighted some problems and
prospects of ACSA toward its onwards progress.
Manfred Schiefer elected in May and took the chair of President
of ACSA from June 2006. ¨
