Cotton producers, users, textile and fashion representatives from different parts of the globe found an abundance of common ground recently at the third annual Certified FiberMax Cotton Quality Summit in Singapore.

The conference, sponsored by Bayer CropScience, attracted nearly 150 members of the global cotton industry for a four-day networking and information-sharing event June 27- June 30. Attendees represented every spectrum of the global cotton trade, including growers, merchants, mills, trade associations, consulting firms and government entities.

Brent Crossland the US Marketing Manager and Monty Christian the Director of Marketing of FiberMax delivered their welcome speech at the inaugural session of the summit.

Dr. O.A. Cleveland Jr., a long-time U.S. cotton industry veteran and professor, and also a marketing specialist emeritus at Mississippi State University, hosted formal presentation session on June 28 & 29 with his lively stage appearance that make attendees feel comfortable on their sits.

The speakers who delivered their speech at the summit were: Bob Antoshak from Globecot, Jeffrey Silberman form IFCP, Andrew Olah from Olah Inc., Maria Capparozza from Belcoro, Len Furlough from B&L Consulting, Jeanne Reeves from Cotton Inc., Ed Jernigan from GlobeCot, Richard Knowles from Knowles/ Taylor, Jagdish Parihar from Olam International and also Alex Merege and Toni Arioli from Bayer CropScience, namely.

There were two panel discussions on two different concerns. On June 28 it was about sourcing, three professionals from the global fashion arena; Brad Beal from Jockey International, Amit Shah from International News and Andrew Olah from Olah Inc. discussed the matter in a very affable milieu. That panel discussion was moderated by Jeffrey Silberman from IFCP, also the chairperson of Textile Development and Marketing of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

Four cotton growers took part in another panel - Eddie Adams from Adams Fert., Terry Smith from CC Planters, Richard Knowles from Knowles/ Taylor Cotton and Rodger Haldenby from Plains Cotton representing various regions acknowledged that fibre quality is an increasing concern for them. In that panel discussion, cotton growers shared information about production and ginning of FiberMax and how they maintain the quality of FiberMax. Finally, how they maintain it through the processes such as production, harvesting and ginning. Dr. Cleveland, moderated that panel discussion on June 29 that included a lively question-and-answer session.

Besides, the summit was also followed by complimentary amusement packages like night safari tour, bicycle tour and golf - play presented to the participant by the organizer.
