Cotton, one of the most important cash crops of
the world has many interesting facets. This age old
commodity dominates the economy of many countries.
In fact, with the passage of time cotton and its
business is becoming more scientific, competitive
and organized. It is increasingly becoming important
to understand cotton and its businesses. In this
issue we have published an article that gives
relevant information which can help in cotton buying
decision. We also have an article on commercial
standardization of instrument testing. We intend to
publish similar articles in future issues, which
would provide in-depth information on different
aspects of cotton.
An International Cotton Conference was held in
Tashkent from May 24-25, 2005. The conference was
organized by the Government of Uzbekistan and
International Cotton Advisory Committee. Cotton
Bangladesh was proud to publish a special edition
covering the event. International conferences play
an important role in cotton businesses. We believe
that while these events create opportunities of
networking and sharing, publishing relevant
information on such events also helps in development
of the business. The Certified FiberMax® Quality
Summit 2005 in Singapore is such an event that
Cotton Bangladesh will cover in its next issue.
